Ways to get involved
Prayer Ministry
Our Prayer Ministry is a reflection of God’s call for His people to pray! So let’s explore different ways to pray with Prayer 101 - anyone is welcome! Each week we will learn and practice a different style of prayer. Tuesdays at 5:30 PM to 6:15 PM beginning 3/28 in the Reception Hall. If you are interested in joining Prayer 101 or if you have a prayer request to pass along, please contact our prayer team by email: prayer@southumc.com
Music Ministry
Since 1926, people have been called to worship each Sunday by an historic 10 bell chime set installed in the tower of South Church. The Case Memorial Chimers play a selection of hymns which can be heard for miles away.
Traditional worship is supported musically by collaborative keyboard artists Tatiana Lukyanova and Chris Walton, and the Chancel Choir led by Music Director Earle Bidwell. The Wesley Ringers handbell choir supplements these efforts a couple of times a month.
Contemporary worship is supported musically by the Wildfire Praise Band led by Tatiana Lukyanova. The band features guitars, percussion, keyboard and vocal artists.
Typically, there are also two evening concerts of devotional and spiritually uplifting music led by the Chancel Concert Choir, which welcomes singers from the greater Manchester area.
Additionally, over 100 SUMC families and friends receive an email link each morning to an inspirational “Music to Begin Your Day” selection chosen by Earle Bidwell Director of Music. If you would like to be added to this list, please email a request to music@southumc.com
Outreach Ministry
Our Outreach Ministry has a very active history and has only been slowed slightly by the pandemic!
We offer a variety of ways for our congregation to serve the local and broader community - donations to the Manchester Area Conference of Churches (MACC), Rise Against Hunger meal packaging, the Community Garden, and Operation Christmas Child to name a few!
